Sophie Monkhouse

Sophie’s journey with Pilates began at 23 shortly after the birth of her first son and a move to Bristol.

Sophie has been a part of the Corefitphysio family for many years, has an intimate knowledge of our core values, and is one of our greatest advocates.

With a background in dance and exercise to music, she turned to Pilates to reconnect with her body and find balance amidst the demands of early motherhood. The practice proved transformative – helping her rebuild strength, improve posture, and restore energy.

By 25, Sophie was teaching matwork Pilates, passionate about sharing its benefits with others. Her interest deepened further with Reformer Pilates, drawn to its precision and dynamic approach and she attended reformer classes for years in Bristol before relocating to Surrey.

Professionally, Sophie has been affiliated with medical practice for years. As a medical rep she was responsible for teaching surgeons and nurses equipment use and wound management , spending many days in theatres or on wards. Currently, her work involves administration and management of a surgical practice and business, involving liaison with medical practitioners and clients and ensuring a seamless process for surgical clients from first communication through surgery and on to postoperative follow-up.

In 2023, Sophie decided to return to her passion of teaching Pilates and began working towards her APPI Reformer Pilates qualification, opting for this clinical approach. She has since completed more than her 50 hours of independent practice, many hours of mentorship at Corefitphysio and has honed her skills to guide clients with confidence and care. This wealth of experience she brings to her regular Reformer classes on Thursday evenings at Corefitphysio.

For Sophie, Pilates is more than a form of exercise—it’s a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and empowerment. Outside the clinic , she enjoys exploring the Surrey Hills and discovering new places on foot.
